Maisie Peters Spills the Truth: No Musicians in the Fam, But They Still Rock!

So, I just found out something pretty cool about Maisie Peters, this up-and-coming British singer who’s totally killing it right now. People have been thinking she must come from a family of musicians because, like, how else would she be so into music, right? But guess what? Maisie’s parents aren’t musicians at all!

Maisie Peters

In an interview with F Word Mag, Maisie was like, “None of my family are musical really,” which was kind of surprising. Her dad did have a thing for music when he was a kid, but he got kicked out of the recorder club, which is kinda funny. But yeah, her dad’s a teacher, and her mom works in communications. So, no rockstars in the family, just regular folks who really love music.

Even though her parents weren’t in the music biz, they totally had her back from the start. Maisie grew up in this small town in West Sussex, England, and her dad would buy her CDs and take her to gigs. That’s probably where she caught the music bug. She talks about how she grew up jamming to ABBA, Meat Loaf, Lily Allen, and British girl bands like Girls Aloud and Sugababes. And like a lot of us, she was obsessed with Taylor Swift when she was, like, 12 or 13. That’s when she started writing her own songs, which is super cool.

When the pandemic hit, Maisie used TikTok and YouTube to show off her talent, and man, did that work out! In just a few years, she blew up, dropping albums like You Signed Up for This and Psycho in 2021, and The Good Witch. Now she’s one of Britain’s rising stars with nearly 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify!

Maisie’s only 24, but she says she wouldn’t be where she is without her parents’ support. They’re still really close, and you can see it all over her social media. On Mother’s Day, she even posted a sweet shoutout to her mom, calling her “the absolute baddest there is.” How awesome is that?

Additional Info:

  • Maisie Peters was born on May 28, 2000, in Steyning, England. Her full name is Maisie Hannah Peters, and she’s of white British ethnicity.
  • She’s got a twin sister named Ellen, who sometimes pops up in her YouTube videos. Maisie says they’re total opposites, which sounds like a fun dynamic.
  • Maisie is a big reader, so much so that her mom used to take her books away because she’d read all the time!
