so Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota? He’s got this cool fam, and he’s super proud of them. Tim and his wife, Gwen, have two kids – a daughter named Hope and a son named Gus. And there’s this whole backstory that’s kinda touching, so let’s get into it.
Tim and Gwen’s Struggle with Infertility
Okay, so back in the day, Tim and Gwen were having a really hard time starting a family. They struggled with infertility for years. It was tough – lots of treatments, lots of waiting, and lots of hoping. They were going through treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, which, btw, is like one of the best places for this kind of thing.
IVF Miracle
After what seemed like forever, IVF finally worked for them. Their daughter Hope was born in January 2001. Tim says there’s a reason they named her Hope – she was their beacon of hope after all those years of trying. And then, a few years later, they had Gus, who was born on October 13, 2006.
Hope Walz: The First Miracle
Hope is like super smart and ambitious. She went to Mankato West High School and then got her Bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a minor in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies from Montana State University-Bozeman. While in school, she did a bunch of cool stuff – like working as a Program Manager for the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming, being a Sales Associate at Athleta, and even a Summer Camp Counselor at Christikon Lutheran Bible Camp. Busy, right? She also worked as a Concierge at Ridge Athletic Clubs. She’s got her stuff together, that’s for sure.
Gus Walz: The Young Gun
Gus is still in high school in St. Paul. You can see him hanging out with his dad at various events. Not much is known about what he’s into, but given his family, he’s probably up to some cool stuff too.
Tim Walz Calls Out J.D. Vance
Now, there’s some drama you should know about. Recently, Tim Walz called out U.S. Senator J.D. Vance. Vance, who’s a Republican VP candidate for the upcoming election, made some pretty harsh comments about IVF and women without kids. He said stuff like women without kids, like Kamala Harris, are “childless cat ladies who are miserable” and have no stake in America. Pretty harsh, right?
Tim wasn’t having any of it. He took to social media to clap back. He said IVF was the reason he and Gwen have their two kids and that it’s a deeply personal issue for their family. He’s basically telling people not to listen to Vance and to pay attention to the judges he supports who oppose IVF. Tim’s tweet was fire:
Gwen and I have two beautiful children because of reproductive health care like IVF. This issue is deeply personal to our family and so many others.
Don’t let these guys get away with this by telling you they support IVF when their handpicked judges oppose it.

Why This Matters
Tim’s message is pretty clear – reproductive health care matters, and it’s personal for a lot of families, including his. He’s standing up for IVF and other reproductive services because he knows how life-changing they can be.
