Who Was Damian McKeith?
So, there’s been a lot of buzz around this kid named Damian McKeith lately. He was just 16 and from Randfontein, and sadly, he passed away in a car crash. All this came up because someone in his family posted funeral videos on TikTok, and now everyone’s talking about him again.
The Accident
Damian was born in 2001 and went to Laerskool Randfontein. He and his buddy MC Prinsloo both died in a car accident early one Tuesday morning in 2017. They were in the car with Damian’s mom, Zurita, and his brother, Morne, heading to Franco’s rugby match in Naboomspruit.
Before they could get there, their car crashed on the highway. Damian and MC didn’t make it. Franco actually drove past the accident but had no idea it was his own family.
Aftermath
The medics got there fast. Zurita had shoulder injuries and broken ribs, while Morne was in really bad shape. The principal of Laerskool Randfontein sent out a heartfelt message to the families, saying how much Damian and MC would be missed by everyone at school.
Since then, the Randfontein community has been super supportive, sending tons of messages on Facebook. Franco, the older brother, dedicated his rugby games to Damian and MC. Even though he won a title, it felt bittersweet because of his brothers’ loss.

Years passed, and the accident kinda faded from memory until those funeral videos popped up on TikTok. The video showed Damian’s friends carrying his casket, and it went viral. People started sharing their own sad stories and sending lots of condolences.

Damian’s dream was to be a rugby player, and he went to lots of matches to learn new techniques. Since the accident, his family has kept their privacy and hasn’t shared much about themselves.
