Borderlands 4 Launch Hits Snags with Crashes and Slowdowns

Just days after it landed, Borderlands 4 lost some of its shine. Across all platforms, reports of tech glitches ran rampant among players. Fans of looter-shooters were disappointed, believing a great, spirited comeback awaited the series. Instead, it felt pretty rough around the edges. I jumped in myself on PC last weekend. Immediately, my screen froze during a boss fight. Had to restart three times. Super frustrating. Social media is littered with complaints. Ranging all over from frame drops to complete crashdowns, they hit hardest on PC. Many believe the game has been poorly tuned. Even strong graphics cards cannot maintain a smooth speed. Most of the time, Borderlands 4 optimization fails. It just goes down from nowhere for low-end PCs. One person manually adjusted his graphics. It was slightly improved in terms of frame rates. But many say glitches remain regardless of setting.

The consoles have their issues, too. PS5 owners identify what looks like a memory leak. After an hour of gaming, performance drags down. A restart is all it takes to solve the problem. Not that this is a proper answer. Worse, the PC version misses an FOV slider. This option is a basic requirement for first-person players. I missed it badly. Cramped feels while aiming at enemies.

The early launch stirs more anger. Borderlands 4 was planned later; months ago, developers moved it up. They said solid progress. Now, many think it was rushed out. “Needed a few more weeks to cook,” a fan posted. Echoes what tons of gamers say. Classic story. Big hype crashes into real problems. Early drops like this often backfire.

Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO, stirred the pot online. He told PC critics to fight against their hardware limits with software. Aimed to back his team. But his words didn’t rub fans the wrong. Sparks talks about blame in big game studios. Observers say his constant posts do more harm than good. A fun release turned into a mess for public image.

Not all bad, though. Borderlands 4 is cool when working, however. Controls feel tighter, gun handling shines. Humor lands better. Probably laughed at quest lines more this time than ever previously in any of the games. World build and loot setup improves the fun over Borderlands 3. Tone has shifted from raucous gags to smarts, real jokes. Strong co-op shooter core.

Gearbox can get Borderlands 4 going again. Just fix up all the bugs. They remain quiet so far. Soon, there should be patches coming out. Tales of a comeback are not in short supply among fans. Cyberpunk 2077 bombed atthe  start, but did fix up huge. No Man’s Sky, too. I stuck with Cyberpunk through updates. Worth it. Will Borderlands 4 pull off that recovery? Or stay a rushed AAA miss?
