Hadley felt like she couldn’t really talk to her mom about what was happening with her stepdad because she didn’t want to mess up the image of their “perfect” family. They did all the usual family stuff—cheerleading competitions, Christmas celebrations, vacations—but under the surface, things were really tough for Hadley.
For years, Hadley kept everything to herself. But when she finally opened up to her mom in 2017, things started to change. They went to the police, and eventually, her stepdad got what he deserved. By 2024, Jeremy Whitledge pleaded guilty and went to prison. Hadley’s story shows that even when life is hard, it’s possible to stand up and make things better.
