Martez House Car Accident Update Former Jacksonville State Coach and Son Nash Fighting to Recover

In a horrible car accident on December 14, 2025, Martez House, who was an ex-Jacksonville State defensive lineman and is now a coach, along with his 6-year-old son Nash, was involved. This was just after being a part of a Christmas parade. Upon reading this, my heart truly sank, for no parent ever expects such things to happen in daily life.

Rescue officers, along with the police and medical response, had commented that it was a miracle they survived. The impact was a head-on collision with serious repercussions. The officers on the site shared that it could have been a worse story altogether.

Martez House suffered severe injuries due to the accident. He has a broken ankle, a broken shoulder, a few broken ribs, fractures in three places around his back, and a lacerated liver. He was taken straightaway to the intensive care unit by the doctors. As for now, he has not undergone surgical treatment, which is excellent. Initially, he was in and out of consciousness and later lost all memory of the accident. There was relief the following day when his memory began to return.

Nash, born on November 14, cemented his place in the benefit of further hazards sustained in the accident. His injuries included a broken femur in the leg, a fractured humerus in the arm, a shattered elbow, several broken ribs, and even a collapsed lung. Unlike his dad, however, he had to go into surgery the same night. Reports indicate it finished around midnight and that all had gone well. He is currently recuperating but will need to be in a wheelchair for an extended period. Watching the little ones suffer is so heart-wrenching. I remember once falling off my cycle and crying for hours, and that was nothing compared to this.

Martez House would be out of work for the time being due to his injuries. Coaching and training kids is how he makes a living, but the loss of that income is quite disheartening. A Spotfund has been set up to help with medical bills and living expenses.

Jacob’s Ladder Preschool, where Coach House teaches physical education to VPK students and where Nash was once a student, also expressed support. They requested families to pray and help where possible. It shows how loved he is by this community.

Martez House’s football journey began at Crestview High School in Florida. Matt Brunson and Kevin Pettis coached him, and he made an immediate impact in Florida. In 2011, he came to Jacksonville State University and took a redshirt year to grow and adjust.

His first college game in 2012 was against Eastern Kentucky, where he finished with two tackles, one for loss. That season was a breakthrough for him. In 2013, he played in 13 of 15 games for the Gamecocks, recording 22 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. There were some real bright spots for him, including six tackles against Eastern Kentucky and several big plays during playoff game victories.

Unfortunately, an injury saw him miss the entire 2014 season and led to his premature retirement from the game. He went into coaching and training of young athletes soon after college. Everyone says he really loves football and has a big heart for kids.

Martez House and Nash are in everybody’s hearts and in our prayers at this time. All hope to become strong and healed, and to recover without hindrance. This kind of scenario makes one realize how quickly life can turn.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Coach House and Nash. We are all cheering for you. You may also be interested in: A Shelby High School Senior Football Player Assaulted My Ten Year Old Son After a Game
