Former Marymount High School Golf Player Maggie Skinner Passes Away Suddenly At Young Age

Maggie Skinner, a former varsity golfer at Marymount High School and a member of the Rock Climbing team, passed away recently. The news shocked a lot of people, and I honestly can hardly bear to read about it. Her death has devastated a wide circle of family, friends, and classmates, according to various sources.

Blooming Maggie Skinner was studying at Baylor University as a pre-nursing major, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and completing the Pre-Nursing Studies program. Expected to graduate in 2027, she certainly seemed to be very goal-oriented and focused on her future. Being a student myself, I can imagine how tricky work-life balance is, and she truly seemed to be giving her best shot at it.

Maggie was also employed as a Member Services Representative at The Beach Club in Santa Monica. She stayed there 2+ years. She interacted with members and guests, received phone calls and emails, booked reservations, coordinated events and activities, and catered to the needs of everyone who popped by. I held a job quite similar to this one, and I can tell you that it is not an easy gig. You have to remain calm and cool, polite and friendly, even if a high-stress day is kicking your ass with the tip of its boot. Truly speaks volumes about her character.

Before this, Maggie worked at the Beach Club as a Summer Camp Counselor. She assisted with the care of children to ensure they were safe and kept engaged in activities. Respect for her because working with children requires tons of patience and kindness; clearly, she had both.

Maggie graduated from Marymount High School, where she was a member of the varsity golf team. She was also on the rock-climbing team. After high school, she remained involved, even with the Baylor Chamber of Commerce. She was never somebody who would stick in one lane; she has been doing various other things to really live life.

In an official Facebook post, Baylor University announced the devastating news. They said they were heartbroken about the loss of a current student and asked everyone to keep him in their prayers. They also provided students with options for support if they were struggling after hearing this news, including chaplains and counseling services.

The comments section saw heartbreaking emotional reactions from so many people. Betsy Parton Winkler said her daughter called her in tears upon hearing the news. She shared about the pain Maggie’s family, friends, and roommates must be feeling and called for prayers and healing for them.

Shanna Brajkovic Mohr sent her prayers to Maggie’s family, friends, and the entire Baylor community. She remarked that such moments make one hug their loved ones that much tighter. That really hit me hard, as it is just true.

Rashel Morals also offered their condolences and prayers. Many others have chimed in with kind words, love, and support for Maggie’s family during this daunting hour.

Maggie’s family is expected to announce funeral services soon. During the first week of the Spring semester, at the Bobo Spiritual Life Center, Baylor University Spiritual Life will hold another gathering for friends, classmates, and staff to pray and remember Maggie.

Sadness ponders that taking someone so young is always an injustice. While many of us might not have known her personally, reading about her life makes us feel the loss. Repose in Heaven, Margaret Maggie Skinner. Never to be forgotten.
