Kristel’s Parents Beg for Mercy, Blame Mental Health

Before Kristel got locked up, her parents, Ketty Torres and Kleber Candelario, were in court begging for mercy. They said their daughter was struggling big time with her mental health, especially postpartum depression.

Ketty, Kristel’s mom, told the court that their family always valued humanism and family was super important to them. She said Kristel grew up in a good environment in Ecuador and even followed the same career path as her dad and grandpa. But as she got older, Kristel started having all these physical and emotional problems.

Ketty explained that Kristel’s depression, anxiety, and some neurosis disorder took over her life, leading to fainting spells. She said no one could’ve guessed her daughter’s mental health issues would lead to something so tragic. Ketty pleaded with the court, “Please don’t demonize her or point fingers at her.”
